tHUTTON JONES was the  head tennis professional at PONCA CITY (Okla.) COUNTRY CLUB  for 4 years before his appointment at ACU Jan. 1, 1997. He was a four-year tennis letterman for the  ACU Wildcats and ACU  assistant coach two years. A 1977 graduate of New Richmond (Ohio) High School,  Jones received a B.A. degree in FINANCE in 1981 and M.S. degree in MANAGEMENT in 1983 from ABILENE CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY.


JONES introduced &  ran 10 Years of "THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED" TENNIS CAMPS for high-ranking tennis players.  He was assistant coach at ACU in 1984-85 for Allen Tappe and 1985-86 for Cecil Eager. 

Jones competed  & lettered in tennis at ACU from 1978-81 and served as TEAM CAPTAIN as a senior in 1981. He also directed numerous ACU summer tennis camps,  served 2 years as assistant tennis professional at ABILENE COUNTRY CLUB and 4 years as HEAD TENNIS PROFESSIONAL at McCALLEN COUNTRY CLUB. 


  • Hutton is married to Paula Plasek-Jones, also a former Wildcat tennis  3-year letterman. The couple have three  grown children,  daughters Hayley and Payton, and son, Hutton Jones Jr., who was a four-year letterman at ACU.
